I Heard Online Degrees Are Dead!?!? HELP!!!!

HELP!A few days ago I got an e-mail from a fella with the title “I Heard Online Degrees Are Dead!?!? HELP!”. The e-mail went on with my anonymous friend saying how one of his cousins from Utah told him that getting online degrees was dead and that those types of degree where useless. Being someone who has used an online degree to get ahead at the office, and being someone who knows several colleagues, friends, and family member who have done the same, to say the least I was shocked!

So for anyone who has been getting outrageous advice like my friend from my anonymous e-mail then here are 3 tips to put this controversy to rest.

1) Saying online degrees are dead is like saying the computer age is dead. As with any market on the Web there’s always people looking to rip other people off and in the market of online colleges there are a lot of scammers out there.

Not getting scammed when your looking for an online degree can easily be bypassed by simply finding an accredited school, and then referencing the course program you want to take with potential employers.

If you have heard that online degrees are a waste of time you are probably getting your information from someone who was a victim of a Diploma Mill.

2) Finding the top online colleges isn’t a hard task. Any top college will be willing to give you any information you need before you apply. If they don’t, then there is no reason that you should apply and even have to take a chance.

For example Kaplan University is a spectacular online college that several personal friends of mine have attended.  I personally like this University because of the variety of programs they offer.

They offer a live chat and even full information about their accreditation, so that if you feel the need to check up on them then you can.

3) If you heard that online degrees where dead, ask yourself who has given me this information? Is this someone who is a college graduate? In most cases there not.  Next ask yourself has this person ever attended an online university? In most cases they haven’t.

If you are looking to purse an online degree, my main advice to you would be to do your homework and make sure your applying for a school and program that you have found to be highly accredited and highly employable. And remember don’t be shocked when you are advancing in your field and your friend who gave you the bad advice is just doing the same old thing!
